River's Edge Work Exchange Program

“Work-Campers” are expected to provide designated hours of work in exchange for their campsite accommodations. Benefits vary depending on how many hours are worked and length of commitment. This may include weekends and holidays. Hours, duties and benefits will be discussed fully during the verbal interview. Campsite accommodations in the program offer full-hookup, wifi, fire rings and picnic tables.

Types of Work Exchange

Office: Answering phone, taking reservations, checking visitors in, answering camp questions. Some light daily chores: dusting, sweeping/vaccuming, sorting mail. Cash handling: record keeping of campsite rent and transactions, store sales.

Cleaning Crew: Cleaning the bathrooms twice daily, cleaning the laundromat, cleaning the clubhouse after a group function or scheduled campground event. Office: weekly: toliet, vacuuming/mopping, office refrigerator/windows as needed.

Special Projects: General maintenance and upkeep in the park. May include painting, staining, working on clearing lots or the nature trail, repairing picnic tables, watering trees and flowers, mulching, weeding, mowing, odd jobs, pumping propane, taking meter readings and attending to special circumstances which might arise for customers at their campsite. Included in this category would be someone to coordinate campground activities such as arts and crafts and/or game night, etc.

Work Exchange Agreements

Standard Benefits Agreement: Approximately 16 hours of work per week in exchange for campsite rent, metered electric up to $75.00, water, sewer, wifi, free laundry in designated facility for work camper's use during office hours, and propane purchases at the wholesale cost.

Limited Benefits Agreement: Approximately 12 hours of work per week in exchange for campsite rent, metered electric up to $75.00, water, sewer and wifi.

Commitment: River's Edge prefers applicants commit to 6 months or longer in their agreements. Such applicants will receive first consideration for hire and for Standard Benefits. Work-Campers who faithfully complete a summer season will be given first consideration for the winter season. Commitments for less than 6 months will be considered at management's discretion.
